The Birth of Rosa -"I had always looked forward to having children and wanted to experience a natural, calm birth, preferably at home".
"....We have great respect for Nicky and Mandy as skilled professionals, as well as warm, fun, friendly people. We realise how fortunate we were to be able to bring our daughter into this world in such a calm and natural way, and knowing that Nicky and Mandy helped us hugely to achieve this we always highly recommend them.
The Birth of Kate -" Our birth didn't go as planned, so we ended up in hospital. However, Nicky was there with us throughout, translating the clinical language and helping me feel at ease with our decisions despite the situation. After the birth, once we were home, her ongoing support was brilliant and helped me through my low patches with great sensitivity. She looked into any questions I had, lent me books on breastfeeding, and I looked forward to her visits!"
The Birth of Charlie -" Every pregnancy is different, every woman has different needs, Mandy and Nicky have the time and ability to adapt to each individual person, they listen to your needs, learn to understand your worries and help you deal with them and are generally fab! I can’t recommend them enough, whether it is your first or ninth pregnancy the service they provide is invaluable, there is no question that I will be booking them for my next pregnancy!"
A father’s perspective -" Prior to entering into any contract Nicky was incredibly helpful and patient during email communications with us, giving research papers and personal input on the likelihood of a successful outcome to my wife’s goal of natural childbirth. Although I was initially sceptical and at times considered that Nicky’s encouragement to my wife could lead to a dangerous situation when labour started it became apparent that Nicky’s support was far from reckless. "
The birth of Harry -" I decided to have independant midwifery very early on in the pregnancy because I particularly wanted a home birth and I was anxious about being told that there were no staff available when the time came and that I would have to go into hospital. Also, I liked the idea of a water birth and had the impression that not all NHS midwives are prepared for this. I knew that I wouldn't be confident enough to fight for what I wanted so I needed the assurance of independant midwifery. "
The birth of Henry -" The birth was worlds apart from my hospital experinece. I wasn’t poked or prodded about; I wasn’t scared and could just let things take their course, with a bit of encouragement when needed. Henry was born after an 8 hour(ish) labour unceremoniously on the bathroom floor! He weighed 10lb 13oz, and I am convinced I would have had pressure on me for a hospital birth with pain relief etc under NHS care."
