Home Birth

The decision of where to have your baby is very personal. Labours work best when mum can relax and tune into her body. For many women planning to stay at home will make the prospect of birth less daunting and more manageable.

Studies have shown:

  • Home birth is at least as safe as hospital birth.
  • Planning a home birth improves your likelihood of having a natural birth.
  • Home birth reduces the need for medical interventions and chemical pain relief.

There are many advantages to home birth for mum, dad and baby:

  • Being in your own home means that couples have more control over the birth
  • Dad isn't forced to leave mum and baby after the birth and miss valuable bonding time.
  • Mum and baby are not exposed to possible hospital infections.
